2016 DIA-BEAT-IT GALA

JDRF’s 2016 DIA-BEAT-IT Gala was held on Thursday, November 17th at the St-James Theater, under the honourary presidency of Mr. Martin Thibodeau, President Quebec Headquarters RBC Royal Bank. The evening raised more than $500,000 in support of JDRF’s initiatives. This year’s T1D FUND A CURE Research Funding was dedicated to JDRF Artificial Pancreas Project.

The artificial pancreas (AP) systems will be the most revolutionary advancement in diabetes care since the discovery of insulin. Like the body’s own pancreas, AP systems will react to rising bloodglucose levels by combining monitoring technology with insulin pumps to deliver the right amount of insulin at the right time. AP systems will result in much better control, lowering the risk of health complications later in life, and will also reduce the constant worry about managing blood-sugar levels.
